[b] school

Dear fellow photographers,

I am considering becoming a member of the [b] school and I wanted to hear your thoughts. Do you think it is a good forum to join? Are you a member? Why or why not? I would like to find a place where I can get questions answered and learn what is new in the photography world. It would help me greatly to hear what you think about it and perhaps even other forums or sites that you visit for professional development. Thanks so much for your time. I can’t wait to hear what you have to say.

Dear all those out there who are not photographers,

I am looking for amazing blogs that are about anything other than photography. I find that I need to venture outside of the photography world to see what else people are talking about. So if you have a favorite blog or website that you just love please let me know. Leave me a comment and share with us all the web address.

Thanks!

Renee

Aliyah Dastour (http://www NULL.aliyahdastour NULL.com) - Hey Renee! First off, I think you’re photography is amazing! You are so talented! I am thinking about doing that same thing…not sure quite yet. I am often inspired by Jasmine Star’s Blog. She is a photographer as well, but such an awesome blogger. Let me know how the [b] school turns out. Take Care!

Senior: Taylor

Allow me to introduce you to Miss Taylor. Taylor is a senior at Abilene High and happens to be my first AHS Senior Rep! Taylor works at Halcyon Salon where I happen to get my hair done (which is awesome by the way!) After our first conversation I knew she would be a perfect Rep. for my business. She is a genuinely kind young lady with a very sweet spirit. We had such a good time traveling around Abilene shooting her portraits. She was willing to try anything I asked her to. She also has a super great sense of style and is quite beautiful. She sure made my job easy. So sit back, relax, and enjoy these images of Taylor.

Check out the end of this post if you too would like to be a SENIOR REP for RBP!

Last stop, THE FAIR! I wanted to try to get the fair in the background just for fun. Next time I am going to have to just buy tickets and do an entire session there. Any takers?

Preview: Senior Rep

Today I had a super fun session with one of my 2009-2010 Senior Reps. We managed to get some great shots without any rainfall.

I love the variety in these preview images. They really demonstrate two of my styles that I usually do; vintage and bold.

I surely hope you come back to see the rest of her images that I will post soon.

Mary Lewis - Wow, Taylor looks awesome! You really captured her true beauty, inside and out. She is such a blessing to me and so are you. Great job Renee!

2010 Seniors

Attention all seniors: I want to shoot you!

Well, your Senior Portraits that is. Photographing seniors is my favorite because seniors rock! They are willing to do pretty much anything to get an amazing shots, always have interesting props and cool clothes, and are just fun to be around.

So seniors, are you wanting awesome pictures that you can use on Facebook or Myspace and pass out to all your friends and family? Well you have come to the right place.

My Senior Sessions are not your boring “sit in a studio and tilt your head this way” type of session. We venture around town to find unique locations and strive to make your images look like they came out of a magazine.  We spend 1-2 hours snapping images that are fresh, modern, and just plain raw!

So hurry and book your session soon!

Calling Superwoman

I need help for Superwoman! Seriously! I know that there so many “super women” out there who have it figured out and I need to know how you do it!

How do you work 40+ hours a week, take care of your family, keep your house in order, workout and take care of your body, have quality time with your husband, quality time for your friends, quality time for yourself, and keep your sanity?  I just can not figure it out.

After working all day long with 210 high school students I am exhausted! For those of you who did not know I teach Spanish at Cooper high school. When I get home all I want to do is lay on the coach and hide! But a long list of things to do awaits me. I need and want to cook dinner for my husband, workout, get house work done, talk to friends,  grade papers, edit pictures, check blogs…The list goes on and on. Not to mention all the things I need to do to promote and run this young photography business of mine. By Friday night I am so spent that I am usually in bed by 10 and sadly half the stuff on my list isn’t even done because I have given up.

So I need balance. I need to know how you guys do it. How do you prioritize your life so that you don’t feel totally expended at the end of the week. Please share your thoughts with me. I really need to learn how to do this so that I can be joyful and not so negative throughout my day.

Thanks so much for sharing!

lauren - Dear Renee – If you find the answer please share with me! I know exactly how you feel. yesterday I came home from school and napped until Chip got home, went to the grocery store because he was motivated to go, and then went back to bed by nine o’clock. I feel great this morning, so hopefully today will be a better day. If i figure out how to not plant myself on the couch this afternoon, I will let you know. Some people say that right after school you should do everything on your list that occurs outside the house and then the couch wont call to you. But I have to take Stella out right after work and she is cuddly and does not help the napping situation 🙂 Hope all is well in Texas! We definitely need to plan a visit down there!

Lauren Z - I think that one of the phrases that the Lord gave me for you a week ago fits into this question. We can talk this weekend. 🙂

Rachel Leslie - Renee… you are so right. How do these woman do it. I am not sure anyone really does. It seems as if life passes us by and we are lucky if we get a moment in every now and then that makes us stop and appreciate it all. I just figure that as long as I continue to love people and they continue to love me, I don’t have to get everything done on my ever growing list of chores… duties and responsibilities. The emphasis, “just doing the best I can.” I guess I look at it like this… we are lucky to have all of these things to do… I can’t imagine to wonder what to do with the next minute of my day.

Keep up the great work… your work is inspiring and I feel like I stay connected by checking out your blog every now and then.

It is ok to go to bed at 10 pm on a Friday. Why not? Saturday morning comes early… and a new days begins.

Just LOVE life… and don’t look for answers. You are doing everything right! As right as you can… none of us are superwoman. We are just lucky!

Love you!

A New Look

I having been playing around with new business cards and colors and thought I would try something new on my blog. I really am not good at design or decision making so I thought I would just test something out. So let me know what you think about how the blog looks now. Perhaps you don’t like it. Let me know that too! I wish I could just hire someone to do all this for me. HEY! If you know someone who is in the graphic design field or perhaps is just good at it let me know. Perhaps I could hire them to make these decisions for me. Or at least help me out in choosing a direction that represents me!
