Senior: Neal Kucinski | Abilene,Tx Senior Photographer

This session was super fun because I got to shoot in a brand new location, the client’s home! Neal is a senior at Eula High School and lives in the middle of the beautiful Texas country side. We had lots of awesome scenes to work with. And Neal was so kind to do all the things I asked him to. He even climb on hay bails for me. This city girl was very appreciative of his willingness to help me out so I could get some amazing shots.

Thanks Neal for being such a great sport! I hope you and your family love your senior portraits. Congrats on your senior year!

Eli & Sawyer | Spring Mini Session 2012

This is the first session I’ve ever done with both my kiddos. I’ve taken lots of snap shots at home of the two of them together, but never anything more than that. You would think I would have put lots of thought into their first sibling session but that is not the case. This session was a last minute, impromtu session.

I’ve had my eye on this budding tree for a few weeks now. I knew it would be a perfect spot for a shoot. I’ve been waiting for sis to be able to sit on her own before using this location. Well time was running out. The tree was already starting to lose it’s blooms. So yesterday evening I decided it was time to get the shot before the pretty tree was gone.

So I enlisted my husband’s help, dressed the kids, packed the car, and headed to the magical spot. We hiked with both kiddos and gear in tow through the tall Texas grass to get to the tree. We set the kids up, I stepped back to get the shot and when I realized I had made a HUGE MISTAKE. I only had 10 pictures left on my memory card and I did not bring another. The sun was setting so there was no time to run home for another card. Errr. So instead of snapping until my heart’s content I had to get a few and be happy with what I got. I wish I could have photographed my babes for a half an hour, but all I got was ten minutes. Let’s just say I’ve learned my lesson!

Sweet Sawyer Faye at 5 months old.

Eli’s (19 month) turn to play.

Above: The hand in his pocket just kills me.

Oh I just love these two so much. Can’t wait to photograph them again with more memory cards!

Project 52:9 | Daughter

Project 52:9 | Daughter

She melts my heart when she smiles.

She truly is a gift from God.

I love being her mom.

I am behind on this personal project. But I am determined to catch up. Project 52 has made me be better about getting out my fancy camera and taking pictures of the little moments. Not every photo has to be perfectly posed with great outfits and brushed hair. Notice that mine is not in this photo. That’s just not reality. But this moment is. Snuggling and playing with my girl whenever I can because that is what is important. Soaking in every moment.

The Big Reveal of Where We Are Moving

It’s 99.5% for sure. We don’t have paperwork yet. But we have been told that in August we will be moving to…

JAPAN!!!!

Crazy huh? We found out on Friday and I am still trying to wrap my brain around it.

I have mixed emotions for sure. We wanted to be stationed in Japan. We are excited about the opportunity to live abroad. But along with that comes hesitation and many reservations.

The most difficult part for us is being so far away from everyone we love. It hurts our hearts that we are making so many people so sad with this move. Grandparents are quite upset about the idea of us taking the kids so far away. We hate that part too. That thought brings tears to my eyes and makes me not want to go.

But we know that this move is bigger than the Air Force, ourselves and our own desires. Yes, we may have wanted to be in Japan, but we truly believe that God has orchestrated this. He wants us overseas for a reason. He has a plan and a purpose for sending us out. I believe He has be preparing us for a while. And even though fear does arise in my heart at times I am comforted by knowing that we are in the center of His will. And no matter what country that may take us to the center of His will is exactly where we want to be.

So expect many blog posts as we prepare for this big move. I plan to document and share all the craziness that goes along with moving a family of four across the world.

And we do need your help! We don’t know anyone who lives in Japan. So if you know anyone, military or civilian, that lives in Japan we would love to connect with them. I need people to talk to about everything there is to know about living in Japan and I would love to have connections with people before we get there. I’d really love to connect with some locals as well.  So please let a comment or email me if you know of someone that we could get in contact with over there. Or if you know someone who has lived there previously, I’d love to pick their brains too!

Thanks everyone! We are so thankful for this opportunity and excited for the adventure that lies ahead.
