Eli’s Monthly Photos

Because I also use this blog document my personal life I wanted to update Eli’s monthly photos from his first year. I never actually posted all his photos together. Things got busy during that season of life. You know how it is…deployed husband, nine month old baby, pregnant again..life just got busy fast.

So here it is. Better late than never.

Project 52:13 {Again}

Project 52:13 {Again}

Once is never enough.

As soon as he comes down he immediately says,

“again!”

And it’s so hard not to comply after seeing that big grin.

Ever since Eli was tiny Andy has wanted to toss him in the air. I think it’s a dad thing. I had to assure Andy that one day he would get to toss my baby. But not yet. Well the time has now come and Eli love it just as much as his dad does. This is a father/son game. I can’t toss this 30lb boy quite as high as his dad can. So I just watch. I watch them do this over and over again.

Project 52:12 {Footsteps}

Project 52:12 | Footsteps

They follow our every move. Literally.

Babies constantly under my feet.

But its more than that.

They are always watching. Observing. Taking it all in.

They follow our footsteps.

So I want the ones I take to be worthy of such significance.

I see this most with my son and husband. Eli is so much like his dad it amazes me. He follows him around and just soaks up everything he does. He loves all things boy. Airplanes, motorcycles, basketball, football, any kind of ball. All the things his daddy loves. It is amazing how he see things I don’t even notice. Watching him learn and take it all in makes me realize the importance of my actions. He sees all that I do. And right now he wants to be just like his parents. He wants to follow our footsteps. I am realizing more and more how important it is to make sure the things I do, what I say, and how I spend my time are reflecting the morals and values I want to instill in my children. I don’t take this job of parenting lightly. As moms and dads we are paving the pathway for who are children will be. This can be a very heavy reality if you let it. But I know it’s not all on my shoulders. I am thankful for God’s grace in my short comings and I am proclaiming Proverbs 22:6 over my children.

“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Normally Project 52 is only one photo. But I wanted to share these two below. I am pondering the idea of printing both of these with the above verse to display in my home as a reminder.

Above: Eli and daddy.

Below: Sawyer and mama.

Project 52:11 {Making Traditions}

Project 52:11 | Making Traditions

Sweet sounds on the monitor in the a.m.

“Mama, mama?”

Sawyer and I walk in to greet Eli.

“Morning!” He says as he pats his pillow, telling me to lay sissy down.

Reading time.

It’s one of our new morning routines.

Hope it remains a tradition.

I remember sitting in my room every night. My brother on the bottom bed and me on the top of the bunk beds. We would sit there as our mom would point out the letters on the ABC train she had mounted to our wall. Then we would sing songs and she would rub our heads. I love that memory. Love that night time routine. I hope to carry on that tradition as well. And I also love how sometimes new traditions just happen. They aren’t forced or planned. They just are. I think those are my favorite.

Do you have any family traditions that just sort of happened? I’d really love to hear about it. Leave a comment below and share with us your tradition or tradition in the making!

Project 52:10 | Realtor Reality

Project 52:10 | Realtor Reality

It has started.

This process to sell the place we call home.

And even though we are excited about this new adventure

the reality that a chapter is ending

is starting to become very very real.

Last week we met with two realtors. Both who suggest we get things rolling and put our house on the market mid-April. Four weeks away. Do you know how much has to be done before our home is ready? A TON! I am starting to feel the anxiety of it all. But I am also ready to get things rolling. I am ready to declutter, clean, and stage this home. I just need a few extra hours in the day when both my kids will sleep at the same time. Not going to happen, but a girl can dream.
