Preview:Southern Gates

I have been super busy trying to get things ready for school that I have not been able to work on my photos from Israel. I still have so many to share with you. So before I leave for work today I thought I would give you a little sample. This is a shot of me at the Southern Gates in Jerusalem. This is the area visited by all travelers coming to visit the temple back in Jesus’ time. They would have come to this area to exchange money, to buy sacrifices, to shop, and to purify themselves before entering the gates of the temple. I loved this place because I felt like I was right there with Jesus 2000 + years ago. Jesus and his disciplines walked here. They stood in the very same place that I stood. That’s why I had to take this picture.

Check back this evening to see the rest of the images from the Southern Gates.

New Business Cards

It’s only been a year and I am already bored with my color scheme. So I have playing around with the idea of new colors to spice things up.  I wanting something young, trendy, and playful. So I made business card using new font and new colors. Please let me know what you think? If you didn’t know me or my style of photography what impression would you get from this card. First impressions are HUGE!

I appreciate your time and opinions!

Kim Edwards - It’s nice looking…but it feels too heavy or something. Maybe it’s the font. Your photography seems more whimsical and light…very earthy and I don’t get that from this business card. Just my opinion 🙂 I love your work! You have such a talent!

Valerie - It is really pretty, reminds me of some of your photos. Not too loud, not too subtle, but still makes a great statement! I hope that made sense! I think it looks very professional, too. I love the colors. Were there any other colors you were lookin at?

patricia marie arnold - i really like the simplicity of it …subtle and classy font.. love the green. not sure on my screen about the blue…seeing it 2 ways with light and dark blue. def like the bark dlue cause it pops the white and green alike.

Tim - Renee I think the top half is great but the font on the bottom is… well kinda hard to read or something, just funky I guess and the lines to the right look like a place to write something but that could be because i only see them on the website and they look like a post. They propbly look better as a business card, but that is what I thought when I first took a look on the web site. Just what I see but you have the sharp eye. Love Ya

Jennifer Nieland - I think it conveys the correct info – your name, phone, website, etc. but it looks super corporate to me. Your photos and style are not corporate traditional, so I would spice it up a bit!!

PS – I LOVE the photo you took of the sun coming through the ceiling on your trip. You should print a huge canvas of that!

melissa -mom - Hi Renee, change is always fun…I love the dark blue back ground. The font at the top really pops out. You have always had a great eye. And I know you always say less is more. But I’m just not for sure it’s enough.
I had a hard time seeing the bottom of the business card….it’s not eye friendly. I think you need to have more fun with the business card. You want to catch the eye of the older teens. Not the business man…. Just my opinion.

Bill Bartmann (http://wso2 NULL.org/wiki/display/~billbartmann20) - Great site…keep up the good work.

En Gedi

En Gedi is the place where David hid from Saul and where he wrote some of the Psalms. It was quite a little hike to get up to the water falls, but it was worth it. It was amazing to see such beautiful greenery in the middle of the desert. The area actually used to be a cave back in the day. But after thousands of years and tons of earth quakes the roof of the cave is no longer there. So the area is open to the hot sun. The waterfalls were beautiful though. I could just imagine David being there finding solitude and peace in this place. Most of these pictures are of the area. I was just amazed by it and thus the many pictures of the landscape. Hope these images give you a sense of the location back in David’s day.

Shalom.

If you can see the people in the background of the picture below it kinda gives you an idea of the size of the place.

Preview: Israel Art Prints

img_4603b

While visiting Israel I tried to take some “art” prints for my portfolio. It was difficult to do however because of traveling in such a large group. There were times that we had to get from point A to point B and we were instructed NOT to stop for pictures. So I did a lot of snapping pics with my camera strap around my neck and my camera hanging at my waist. No time to walk, see where I was going, and look thru the view finder. It was a fun challenge. Most my attempts of cool artsy prints done in this manner were utter disasters. But I did manage to get one image! This image is of a ceiling in a Catholic Church. The light was shinning down and it was amazing. I really can’t believe I got this shot shooting the way I was shooting. God is good. I just had to share it.

Memoree Barrett (http://www NULL.whimsyphotography NULL.com) - Renee – This picture is amazing! I love it!

patricia marie arnold - love this the light and the is perfect. like God looking down

melissa -mom - this pic makes me think beautiful, beautiful wish you were here.

Dead Sea Scrolls

This next post is full of pictures where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. It seriously is an ancient city in the middle of nowhere! It is tucked in the mountains overlooking the Dead Sea. I can’t believe that people actually lived there in the middle of the desert. Can you image how bummed these people where when they realize that the huge body of water below them was useless?  Enjoy these few pictures and stay tuned from more of Israel. Your going to want to go there after all my blogging is through.

Blessings!

Contest Time

contest-time-brand

I think it’s time for another contest. This month I have had over 400 visitors to my blog. This is super exciting! But, sadly I do not know most the people coming by to visit. So to solve this problem I am having a contest. Here is how it works.

1. Leave a comment on this post introducing yourself. Once you do that your name will be entered into a drawing to win a $15 gift card to Target.

2. Leave a comment on every post for the next 5 days. Each time you leave a comment your name will be entered again, increasing your chance of winning.

3. Contest ends Friday at midnight. Saturday I will announce the winner! Yeah!

It is that simple. I just want to get to know you. So play along and get a chance to win!
