A dear friend of mine sent me a link to The Health and Beauty Pledge. Immediately I knew this was something I needed to save and read over and over again daily! Last week I confessed struggling with my weight and body image during this pregnancy. And to be completely honest I have always struggled with these issues. I mean I am still haunted by memories of kids making fun of my weight an looks when I was seven! Those mean words impacted me as a child and I guess they still do to this day. I still see myself how those mean kids saw me in elementary school, middle school, and high school. But I am saying no more! I am committing to this Health and Beauty Pledge and I invite all you women to join me!
I believe that change starts in the mind. And this is a mental battle. One I can win with God’s help and so can you. So take time to read this pledge and seriously consider living by it!
The pledge is for mothers and mothers-to-be, but I believe it is for all women of all ages. I plan to teach these principals to my children so they will not struggle with the same silly, worldly things that I struggle with. I want them to see themselves the way their Father in Heaven sees them. That is the way I want to see myself. One day, I will.

I hope you do print it and look at it/ read it every day and remember how beautiful you are. I also hope that you read the book (b/c I want to know if it’s any good!!)
The article was in pregnancy or pregnancy & newborn magazine – I can’t remember which. I should scan it for you so you can read the entire article on this book! I liked the pledge the most. The rest of the article was a lot about how much we judge celebrities as soon as they get pg to stay cute and underweight and how we expect them to lose the baby weight in 2 minutes after they give birth.

Ashley Seprodi - Hi Renee! I’m almost positive that you don’t know me, (I was Ashley Boone then) but we went to high school around the same time and both were involved in the drama productions there. I found your site one day and keep up on your blog regularly to see your amazing work in photography and your insightful posts. I just wanted to say that I always thought you were such a gorgeous girl and always seemed so nice! I know all of us ladies struggle with body image, some more than others like myself.
