I know I’ve said it before but I absolutely love photographing seniors. I love helping them come alive in front of my camera and being able to showcase their beauty, personality, and spirit. Something just seems to click when I have a senior in front of my lens, which I totally think is a God thing. I also think it’s partly because they trust me. They know that I want to get the best images possible for them. And even though I may ask them to do strange things they are ok with it because they want to get the shot just as much as I do. You may be wondering what crazy things do I ask them to do? Well, when I photograph seniors I don’t just ask them to smile. I often create a scenario that they act out for me. Or I give them an emotion to portray. I tell them, ” hold your arms close, like you are shy.” Or I may say, “look over there at the wall and pretend there is a hot guy over there who’s attention you want to get. How would you smile at him to get him to notice you?” These things may seem silly. What am I saying? They are silly. But they seem to work. They bring the photos to life!
Kyndra is quite familiar with my corky technique for sure. Since I’ve known Kyndra for a while and photographed her before I wasn’t afraid to step outside to the box and ask her to go the extra mile. And I am so thankful she was willing because I believe her photos are fierce because of it. Kyndra, you rocked this photo shoot!
