Project 52: A Weekly Photo Project

Being a professional photographer, I take lots of pictures. It’s kind of in the job description. I take pictures for other people. And I love it. But I often neglect to document my own life. This year, thanks to the inspiration of some dear friends, I am making a commitment to take pictures for myself. I am participating in

If you Google Project 52 you will find lots about it. I didn’t come up with the idea. I am borrowing it and tweaking it a bit.  And I hope you will too.

Basically, I will take one picture a week based on a theme that I have chosen.(Theme will be revealed tomorrow) And each Friday I will be posting that week’s image.  At the end of the year I will have 52 pictures that will represent my journey in 2011.

Easy enough right?  Interesting in doing it too?

Why  you should participate in Project 52:

One of the main reasons is to get better at taking pictures. There is alway s room for improvement and I believe the more you shoot the better you will get. So whether you are a professional photographer or not Project 52 is bound to help you take better pictures. Practice makes perfect, right? Another reason is to keep you shooting and using your camera to document your year.

How to get started:

1. Pick a theme.

This project is a challenge. The challenge is to pick one theme and shoot something each week that fits that theme.  This helps to make Project 52 personal.

Possible themes:

-the places you go: take pictures of places you visit. New cities or even your local grocery store. Would be a great theme to document your year.

-new recipes: take pictures of a meal you cook each week.

-people in your life: great way to take new images of the most important people in your life.

-your favorite things: a great way to have your images reflect who you are.

2. Take a picture weekly.

Each week take a new picture that fits your theme. Get creative.

3. Share your photo each week.

Post your picture to share with the world. Blog it. Then link your blog in the comment section each week.  If you don’t have a blog then put it on Facebook or an online photo album. I would really love to see them! Post them on the RBP Facebook Fan page (http://http://www NULL.facebook NULL.com/ReneeBooe) every Friday and share with us all.

So what do you have to lose? Won’t you join me ? Start today. Start next week. There is no pressure. It’s just a fun way to document 2011.

So are you in? Let me know!
