Vacation to D.C.

I am so sorry that it has been forever since I have posted anything. Life has been pretty busy. My husband Andy just recently got back from his 5 month deployment. I am super excited to have him home! A few days after he got home we went on a two week vacation. We drove all the way to Washington D.C. We really enjoy road trips and this one was so much fun. We got to see lots of historical sites, spend time with some awesome friends, and even made a pit stop in Indiana to surprise family. And if that was not enough we leave for Florida on Sunday. Whew! I love summer. It is a blessing to be able to travel so much. Here are a few images from D.C.  Check back soon to see my new toy I just got. Can you guess what it is?

Ian & Hannah

While on vacation in Indiana I had a photo shoot with the Gadberry kids. I have been taking their pictures for years now and it is always so fun working with these kiddos! Below I have posted my favorites. I hope you enjoy!

Portraits: Stefany

I would like to introduce you to Miss Stefany. Stefany is actually one of my students at Cooper. She needed some head shots for a competition she is entering so we set out to get her some great images. Stefany is a real natural in front of the camera and it shows. She is such a sweet girl with a very kind heart. And she speaks Spanish with a beautiful accent. That rocks! I had so much fun doing this photo shoot and I can’t wait for you to see all the goodies.stefany-4

Rick Booe - Nice pictures. You are getting very talented. Come and see me this summer.

Summer Break

After a long and stressful year the day has finally arrive, the last day of school. For those of you who don’t know I teach Spanish at Cooper High School. This was my second year there and it was actually tougher than my first. But all things considered it was a successful year.

Students survived. Some even learned. So all and all I am pleased. Teaching is a difficult job. I never really thought so until I became a teacher. It can also be a fun and rewarding job. I guess with any job there are positives and negatives.  However, I am about to enjoy one of the larger perks, summer break! I plan to relax, travel, and spend time with friends and family. I hope everyone has a great summer. Stay posted to checkout all the awesomeness of my summer.

Below are some pictures I took during the year of my classroom. They are just quick snap shots, but I thought it would help you get a glimpse of my world.

The Hardwick Family

Today I had the honor of photographing some dear friends of mine. Meet Josh, Jo, and Kaylee. This family is such a blessing to my husband and I. They have become our family here in Abilene and we love them so much. Josh works at Beltway Park Baptist Church as a Children’s Pastor.  Jo is a full-time mom and pretty much Super Women in my opinion! Their sweet little girl is soon to be 6 months old and growing so fast. They are such a fun family and I hope these images truly portray their beautiful spirits.

At our second location Kaylee was full of smiles and laughs!

Which was quite contagious.

So we decided to try our silly faces on. Even Kaylee played along.

I love the emotion in the last one. It’s so sweet.

Making the Cut: Working Out

As most of my friends and family know, I am a big fan of fitness. Working out has become a normal part of my life. I always feel better when I stick to my workouts and don’t slack off. (Don’t get me wrong, slacking does happen.) But I love the idea of training and conditioning my temple. There is something to be said about pushing yourself to run that last quarter of a mile or lifting that last rep. It’s empowering to set goals that seem impossible and then work hard to actually reach them, like completing a triathlon or even just doing 50 push ups.

As someone who has always struggled with her weight I used to just workout to lose the pounds. But lately, thanks to my great workout partner’s insight and wisdom, God has been changing my outlook on exercising. It should be about staying fit and protecting our bodies and not just about losing weight.  That concept is refreshing to me and makes me look forward to my butt kicking workouts. So I want to encourage you to take control of your bodies and get active! Not to shed pounds, even though that may happen. But to keep your body healthy and to feel better about yourself. Exercise really does help.

Lastly, I want to share this killer workout with you. My friend and I have been doing Jillian Michael’s workout “Making the Cut.” It’s a one month exercise program that is jam packed with circuit training goodness. It is intense! Don’t believe me? Get the book and just try it. It really is amazing how far we can push these bodies. I will keep you posted on the results of our one month adventure. We are in week two and have a love/hate relationship with this program.  Ha! But, I think it really works.

Thanks for listening! Blessings and happy exercising.
