The Western Wall

The Western Wall in Jerusalem is one of the most holy of places in the Jewish faith, especially for Orthodox Jews. Commonly knows as the “Wailing Wall,” it is the only thing that remains of the Temple Mt. where the second temple stood. It is not actually part of the temple, but a piece of the foundation that king Herod had built on Mt. Mariah. It is said that people come there to pray and mourn for the destruction of their temple in 70 A.D.

People from all over the world come to pray at this wall. They read the scriptures, pray, and leave handwritten prayers inside small holes in the wall itself. It is separated into two sections, a second for women and a section for men. I actually was able to squeeze my way thru the crowds to pray at the wall and leave my written pray. It was like nothing I have ever experience before. Women and young girls were weeping at the wall. Just crying their hearts out. From a very young age these little girls have been taught to come here to pray. I thought this experience would be make me feel super close to God. But it didn’t. I do not have to go to a wall to talk to God. I was humbled though to be at a place that people find so holy that they spend hours there and cross oceans to visit this place. My heart was moved to pray for all the women at the wall. They are praying so hard that God will deliver them and bring the messiah. My heart breaks for them because their eyes have been closed to the truth. The Messiah has come and He is waiting for their return. He is wanting for the return of His chosen people, those women who stood beside me at the wall.

I have these images can portray at least a glimpse of the emotion and longing that I experienced at the wall.

Thank you so much for these pictures… I am overwhelmed looking at them! They are amazing…. absolutely amazing. I am so happy you could go. It has ministered to me tremendously, just through the pictures. Your photography is not only a talent but a ministry as well! I don’t even have the words to describe how it makes me feel to see these of the Holy Land. God is good and Jesus LIVES!! Love you!

Jenn

shelly purpura - you have captured the heart of so many people in your photos. they alone tell the story of people who have recieved the messiah and those who continue to wait. awesome job! hopefully with a little help I can get my pictures downloaded. love you sister

Lauren Z - So awesome. The one of the old woman speaks to me too. Intriguing. What a cool place. I also love the “macro-ish” shot of the wall with the prayer in it. It makes me study it for a while…love that.

Jenny - Wow this is a very sad concept. I truly feel saddness for these people…I can’t imagine what it would have been like to be there to actually witness this! Great pics, and thanks for the story. I never knew this wall existed.

Go Down to the River

baptisms-1

In Matthew chapter 3 we learn that Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River.  Our team had the honor of following Jesus’ direction and being baptized there as well. This was such a precious time for so many people. It was a time of rededication and renewal. I really think that the emotions in these images says it all.

Back Home and Blessed

WOW! Israel was amazing. I had such a great time seeing the sites and getting to know the people on the team and people who live there. This trip blessed my socks off! It truly was amazing to walk where Jesus walked and see places that I have read about in my bible. During this trip I prayed that God would speak to me and open my eyes to things that He wanted me to see. I was expecting to experience this supernatural high when I visited some of these places in Israel, but that’s not what happened. Please don’t misunderstand me, it was awesome to be there and I would go back again tomorrow. But I felt like God was telling me that His presence is everywhere, that you don’t have to go to Israel or any holy place to experience the fullness of God.  God also confirmed several times that He is not finished with me. I fear sometimes that God has set me aside and is no longer working in me, that He is done with me and moved on. But I was reminded several times what the Word says in Philippians 1:6. ” And I am sure that God, who began a good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on that day when Jesus comes back again.” So be encouraged. No matter where you are in your walk, if you are a new believer or have been in relationship with God for years, God is not done with you!

The second thing I took from this trip was a new passion for reading God’s Word. The Jewish believers I met in Israel really know the scriptures. They know why the believe what they believe and they really own their faith. That has inspired me to do the same. I want to own my faith. I want to know what the Bible says and stand firm on it’s promises. This trip has give me a new desire to read the Bible because I have visited some of the places it talks about. I have seen them with my own eyes and want to read more about what happened there. I am excited to pick up my Bible and read it with new eyes. That desire is really a gift from God and I pray that everyone reading this will have a renewed sense of joy and excitement when you read the Bible.

Israel was an experience that I will carry with me forever. I look forward to sharing more about this trip with you in the days ahead. I took many pictures and have tons of stories to share. Please come back often to get updates on this trip and what God is doing in Israel and in my life!

Blessings!

This picture was taken at sunrise at the Sea of Galilee. It was a breath taking view. And best of all Jesus walked on this water!

Coming tomorrow: Jordan River Baptisms

Lauren Z - You are so beautiful!

Israel: Day 14

Home sweet home.

fr2021

After traveling all night we will be arriving in Dallas today. I know that each person on this trip appreciates your prayers. Thank you for being apart of this journey and investing in the lives of others. I hope to collect some of the stories and experiences from people on this trip and share them with you. I think it would be cool to see how God used you and your prayers to impact the lives of people on this team. So come back often to see pictures and testimonies of what God is doing in Israel.

Prayer Requests

1. Pray for a smooth transition back into daily routines.

2. Pray for rest and revival.

Israel: Day 13

Sadly, today is our last day here in this holy land. It has been an amazing experience that I look forward to sharing with you all.

Today we are visiting some really awesome places. First we are going to Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Memorial. I have heard that this place is very moving. I am sure that it will be an emotional experience. Then we will be going to the Garden Tomb. WOW. I can’t imagine what it is going to feel like to stand in front of the tomb where they laid the body of Yeshua. I am overwhelmed to think that I am going to stand on the same ground that God’s messengers were when they told Mary that Yeshua is risen.  We are going to celebrate and share communion in front of an EMPTY TOMB. Praise God! After that awesome experience we will be heading to the airport for the long journey home.

Prayer Requests

1. Pray that we will have a greater understanding of the sacrifice Christ made on that cross.

2. Pray that we will not leave Israel the same. Pray that God will have His way in each of us.

3. Pray for a safe trip home.

4. Pray that God will give you a heart for Israel and for His people.

Israel: Day 12

Today we will be spending lots of time in Jerusalem. I really never dreamed that I would be saying that. I love to travel, but I didn’t think Israel would be on my list of places to go. It truly is amazing how God puts desires in our hearts and how He works things out. I know He has brought me here for a reason and I am excited to see that reason unfold.

Here are some of the things we will be doing today:

Visiting the Temple Mount- Home of the Western Wall and the Dome of the Rock

Rabbi’s Tunnels

Rampart’s Walk

Southern Steps

Hezekiah’s Tunnel

To be honest, I am not even sure of the significance of each of these places. But I am eager to learn.

Prayer Requests

1. Pray that the Bible would come to life in front of us today.

2. Pray that we would each receive a renewed passion for His Word!

3. Pray for the conflicts in Jerusalem.

4. Pray that the people there will see that they need THE SAVIOR.
