Smiles by the River | Montgomery, Al Child Photographer

Sophie just had a birthday which meant it was time for her yearly photo shoot. She did so well during her three year old shoot and she rocked this one as well. She has come along way since the first time I photographed her in 2012. She use to really make me work for it. Now, I think it is safe to say she may like me a little bit.

All of Sophie’s sessions were shot in Japan. I now live in Alabama and will be booking sessions this fall in Montgomery, Prattville, Milbrook, and other surrounding areas.  Shoot me an email for more information or to book your session:

Big News!

I’ve been so busy these past few months that I totally forgot to share some big news with all of you.

We are adopting from China!

We started the process in April 2015 and hope to travel to China this March to bring our little girl home. It all is happening so fast it’s almost hard to believe. I blog about our adoption process on my other website (http://spuronlove Head over there if you want to know more about our adoption.

What does this mean for business?

I am not really sure. I have decided to wait and see. Our little one may be just fine staying home with her daddy while I do a photo shoot, but she may not be. Me leaving her, even a few hours, may bring back those feelings of insecurity and abandonment for her and we do not want that. Until we know for sure I will not be officially booking any sessions for March and April.

I may decide to do sessions last minute so be sure to follow the RBP Facebook (https://www NULL.facebook page for updates. If you have your heart set on having a session done by me in the next few months (we should be moving back to the States this summer) please send me an email so I can add you to the waiting list.

Want to follow our adoption journey?

We love sharing our story and would be honored for you to walk this out with us. You can follow along by following @spuronlove on both Instagram (https://www NULL.instagram and Facebook (https://www NULL.facebook

And now for the best part. I am excited to introduce you to our little girl, Leia Joy. We are so excited to meet her.

Photos below were taken from our trip to China in May of 2014 and were edited with VSCO Presets in Lightroom (https://vsco  Crazy to think our daughter was there and we didn’t even know it yet.

A Photography Workshop Just for You

I am super excited to announce the next Epiphany Workshop here at Yokota, AB.  This workshop is my baby. I love photography and I love teaching. So I combined my two loves and created the Epiphany Workshop for people just like you who love photography and have a desire to take your passion to the next level. Epiphany was designed for hobbyists who own a digital slr, but are not using it to it’s full potential. Professional photographers are welcome too, but the focus is the basics. It is a class for anyone who wants to learn how to use their cameras more efficiently to get killer images straight out of camera. Who has time for all that Photoshop, right?

Does this sound like something you want to achieve? If so, read on to learn more about this great opportunity.

All the Details

A workshop for people with fancy cameras (digital slr) who want to learn how to use them to their full potential.

Who can attend?

Anyone with a digital slr can attend. We will start with the basics and dive into more advanced topics as well. So this class is for both beginners and people with some experience.

What will be covered?

One of the main goals of this class is to teach you how to shoot in manual mode and not auto, which gives you more control over your images. We will cover a variety of topics such as: exposure, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, shooting in low light, custom settings, focus modes, histograms, in-camera light metering, using natural light, shooting motion, and much more. You will have plenty of time to ask questions and practice.

Practice Photo Shoot:)

This time around we will actually go on a photo shoot after the classroom portion. Here you will get a behind the scenes look at a photo shoot with me plus get to put to practice what you learned.  We will discuss camera settings, light, posing and much more.

You will have access to a private Facebook group that is only for Epiphany participates. The education never has to stop. You will have the ability to continue asking questions and getting feedback on your photography forever.

What will not be covered?

There is not enough time to cover photo editing or business issues during the EPIPHANY workshop.

The class is taught in a relaxed environment where you can ask questions and even practice what is covered. You no longer have to look at other people’s photos and wonder “how did they do that?” This workshop is designed to answer those questions AND teach you how to do it too!

Still not sure if the EPIPHANY workshop is for you? Read the testimonies below from past attendees to see what people are saying about this photography workshop.

“I really enjoyed the workshop!  I knew absolutely nothing about shooting in manual and had never done it before the workshop. I’m now able to get shots in different lighting that I didn’t think were possible. Being able to control the camera, instead of letting “auto” control the shot, makes it possible to take some amazing photos. Thank you so much for setting up the workshop!! I’m gonna take some great photos of my kids now :)”  –Rachel Dahlin

“I learned so much about my camera and it’s potential at Epiphany! I kept seeing your beautiful photos and wondering how can I get this camera to take those kind of photos? I loved that we were able to put what you taught us into action! I’m a very hands on person and this helped a ton with understanding how to adjust to different settings(inside, outside, direct sunlight)! Thank you again for hosting this workshop and sharing your knowledge with us.”  –Brittany Lenhardt
“I am a professional photographer and Epiphany was just the workshop for me. I have paid thousands of dollars to attend workshops with several photographers but none compare to this. Simply put, I needed a small group of one on one with plenty of interaction with the instructor and this cannot be attained by the BIG workshops with the very seasoned and highly publicized names in the photography industry.  Renee is organized, simple, and fresh. If you are just starting or are needing a refreshing new look at photography THIS is the workshop for you. Renee is available to answer questions and willing to share her promising tips on her success in the field of photography. You will not regret this opportunity to learn the technical side of this industry while experiencing the small welcoming atmosphere all at the same time! Be blessed and enjoy the Epiphany experience with Renee Booe!” –Stephanie Ellison

Call to Action

You have invested in a nice camera. Now it is time to take that next step and learn how to use that investment to it’s fullest. This workshop will help you take your photography to the next level and give you the skills you need to take awesome photos. I promise you that this workshop will be worth both your time and the investment.
If you have any questions about this workshop don’t hesitate to comment below or shoot me an email. I am super excited and can’t wait to teach you all that I know.

Want to come, but don’t live in Japan?

I am considering hosting this workshop world wide in the future. Would you come if the EPIPHANY Workshop was  held in a city near you? Would you be willing to host an EPIPHANY Workshop? Let me know and perhaps we can work something out! Comment below or shoot me an email.

Tokyo Family Photographer | Anna & John

It is always such an honor photographing expats from all over the world who currently call Tokyo home. My goal is to give them lovely images that will forever remind them of their time in Japan. These three are fairly new to the Land of the Rising Sun but already are very comfortable here. And their little one is very popular with the locals. I mean seriously, who can resist that sweet face?

This Tokyo family photo session was done at Shinjuku Gyoen Park. It was a perfect location for this lovely family shoot. These three were so great to work with and so stylish too. I hope you enjoy some of my favorite images from this session.

Fall family sessions in Japan are so lovely. The leaves here are really stunning and honestly photos do not do them justice.  They do make for a lovely background for a portrait session. I wish this season lasted longer, don’t you?

This was the first session this year where I was able to capture the fall colors. It was great to work with these three with such lovely backdrops. And their sweet little boy, he is just adorable. I can not get over those blue eyes and that one dimple. Ahhh. So sweet. Scroll down to see for yourself.

I just have to say this. I am blessed with the most amazing clients. Seriously. They are always so kind and genuine and fun. And these three were that and beyond. They had such great attitudes during their family photo shoot and even braved the rain. Rock stars. And let’s take a minute to talk about that sweet baby girl. How cute is she? So much cuteness in her little body.

It was an honor to walk around Fussa, Japan and photograph this lovely family. Can we do it again tomorrow please? Because I totally would!
