I have a little confessing to make. I still get nervous before every photo shoot. Oh my way to the meeting location I always have butterflies in my stomach. I have been doing this for years, and you would think it would be no big deal. That’s not the case. It never fails that about 30 minutes before each shoot I start getting nervous. So on my way to meet clients I always say a little prayer and ask the Lord to help me capture images that truly represent that particular client. Because after all that is the entire reason why I shoot. And by His grace He helps me to do just that. And you know what? As soon as I greet the client and get to work the nerves disappear. It’s like something else just takes over and I feel comfortable and energized and ready to rock that photo shoot. It’s in the middle of posing a client, checking exposure, working angles, that I feel empowered and inspired. I will even say it’s an adrenaline rush. And I love it. Love, love, love it! I feel so blessed to call this my job. And I think it’s ok that I still get a little nervous. It helps me relate to my clients who are normally a little nervous at first too.

I totally get nervous…I was so nervous for a recent wedding consult, I paced the house for an hour…ridiculous! …and yes, yes and yes yes yes…the nerves go POOF! as soon as we really get going…thank the Lord right! 🙂
Casie - I know EXACTLY how you feel! same nervous butterflies. same quick prayer on the way to the shoot. & that tingle when you look at the LCD and think, “no way. i just did that.”
I tell my clients that it will be awkward at first – for both of us – but that when you find a groove, time flies by and it just flows naturally. you’re right, it’s a rush!
