Vulnerability, A Machine Shop, & Family Photos

Before I share these pictures I have got to address the big elephant in the room. Perhaps I am the only one that sees it, but regardless I have to say it….

I really didn’t want to post these pictures. because. of. my. weight.

Sorry to say it,but it’s true.  I struggled sharing these images because I really dislike the way I look in them. And this is not me fishing for compliments. It’s just me sharing an insecurity that I have with all of you.  I have never really seen myself at this weight, until these images. And it bothers me. Really bothers me. Needless to say I am having a difficult time getting my baby weight off. After 3 months of exercising and trying to eat right I haven’t lost a pound. NOT ONE. uh. I’ve even cut calories extremely and my body just doesn’t want to let go. It’s frustrating. Embarrassing even. But I needed to share it. So you know where I am at in this battle. And you know that posting these takes a lot of courage for me… I am trying to be comfortable in my new skin. And I guess for me posting these pictures is a step in that direction. I have a feeling its going to take me a while to get back to my pre-baby weight. Quite a while. And I am in the process of learning to be ok with that. Its a process indeed.

Whew.

Now that that is over let me get to the good part. THIS IS MY FAMILY. For Christmas I promised my mom we would get family pictures taken. I know my mom often feels jaded because I take pictures for everyone else, but never for us. I try to tell her it’s really difficult to be both in front of and behind the camera at the same time. But that doesn’t seem to matter to her. Ha. So I asked my cousin Tim to take some shots for us.

Once I got everyone to agree to participate in our family photo shoot we set out to get some great images. We lasted about 10 minutes outside because it was freezing. So we had to come up with an indoor venue at the last minute. And of course the most logical place…a machine shop. My dad has worked at this machine shop since forever and I remember going there a lot when I was little. So it was neat to go back there to take our pictures. Not your typical photo spot, but I think we made it work.

amy (http://www NULL.anestforallseasons NULL.blogspot NULL.com) - Dearest…

I get you. I really totally get you. I AM you. My baby turned 1 (yesterday!) and I still haven’t gotten rid of the weight from baby #1!! (and this is #3!!!). Anyway….I hate pictures…I try to hide behind my husband and hide behind my baby or whatever might be big enough to hide me. I recently posted my first video tutorial…I hated watching it. …but I was tired of waiting for the weight to come off before trying out video tutorials. I’ve been running…it helps…but not enough.

…and I must say this darling…at least you don’t have the dreaded mommy double chin. I could deal with my hips if only I didn’t have that dang double chin.

…if only there was a pill, right?

If it is any consolation…I’m not sure if you are nursing, but I’ve found that AFTER I stop nursing, things get a bit better. I’ve never found that nursing helps take off the weight…it just makes it stick on me…

…anyway…now that my comment is as long as your post…:)
