Give it a TRI.

There is something inspirational about watching people cross a finish line. It doesn’t matter how well they did in the event, seeing them just finish is encouraging enough.  I am motivated when other imperfect people push themselves past their limits to do something that challenges them. It makes me want to challenge myself. It makes me what to give it a TRI!

That is exactly how I felt last weekend when I watched my husband participate in his second triathlon. There is something almost spiritual about being surrounded by people of all shapes and sizes committing to doing something that isn’t easy. Most encouraging was that this wasn’t just an event of super fit athletes in their mid 20’s. Oh no. All ages and fitness levels were present. The 12 year old kids were running along side the college students running along side the 50 year olds. All doing the same thing. All pushing themselves mentally and physically.

It was a requirement at this triathlon to have your age written on your right leg. Many people, women especially didn’t really like putting their age on their leg. But I loved it. If you are 55 and competing in a triathlon, BE PROUD. I hope to compete in a tri when I am 55. I will rock that number on my calf.  Age is just a number and I think this shot proves that.

Inspiring! So no matter your age or current fitness level you can do amazing things if you TRY. So set a goal. Find a 5k, a marathon, or a triathlon and start to train. If you set your mind to it, you will cross that finish line.

And a quick little shout out to my husband, Andy. So proud of you babe! Can’t wait until we can do another tri together.

Brittany - That is so awesome! Congrats Andy!!! I didn’t start to really enjoy running until I met Henry. He’s been my rock and trainer. He stayed by my side when I had to get back in shape after having lil’ Henry and didn’t have a good attiude about it. I’m so thankful that God blessed me with such a wonderful husband. We love to run 5K’s together, I always know I’m going to be 10 min behind him. Having him at the end waiting on me and cheering me one gives the motivation to keep going. Since being in Abilene Henry’s been able to run two 5K’s while I cheer him on. We so excited to get back to running together. We bought a jogging stroller so it will be a family affair once Zoe gets here. It’s so awesome to see young kids out there with their parents in strollers or running beside them all the way to the end. It feels a little weird to be passed by an 8yr old or someone pushing a stroller uphill but it just makes you push harder.

Tori (http://FIToriBLOG NULL.com) - I LOVE THIS! I am totally making a shift toward functional fitness vs vanity and realizing that the leanest, best looking body isn’t always the most fit and healthy!

MELISSA - ANDY I AM SO PROUD OF YOU….CONGRADULATION.. IT MAKES ME WANT TO GET FIT JUST SEEING YOU FINISH DOING A TRI. WAY TO GO!!!! ALSO I JUST LOVE SEEING YOU HOLD ELIJAH…
