En Gedi

En Gedi is the place where David hid from Saul and where he wrote some of the Psalms. It was quite a little hike to get up to the water falls, but it was worth it. It was amazing to see such beautiful greenery in the middle of the desert. The area actually used to be a cave back in the day. But after thousands of years and tons of earth quakes the roof of the cave is no longer there. So the area is open to the hot sun. The waterfalls were beautiful though. I could just imagine David being there finding solitude and peace in this place. Most of these pictures are of the area. I was just amazed by it and thus the many pictures of the landscape. Hope these images give you a sense of the location back in David’s day.

Shalom.

If you can see the people in the background of the picture below it kinda gives you an idea of the size of the place.
