Dueling Spouses

I am motivated by competition. No matter if it’s a friendly game of racquetball or a Monopoly marathon, I will do my best to win. Competition just spurs me on for some reason. This is why my husband and I have decided to duel it out and participate in our second Booe family weight loss competition.

This is how it works. Today we will both weigh in. And we have 11 weeks to lose weight. The person who loses the highest percentage of weight will win the grand prize of $500 to spend any way they please. Not to mention bragging rights for beating their spouse. GAME ON!

We decided to do this to help motivate and challenge each other. We needed some type of goal, and since we are both competitive people this works for us. When Andy and I are both trying to cut some weight it really helps me out. We buy better food to stock our kitchen. When eating out I will order something better for me because Andy is doing the same thing. If he heads to the gym I am right behind him and vice a versa. Mostly because he is my competition, but also because it’s motivating when other people are working hard to meet their goals.

So be on the look out for some fierce competition in our household. And perhaps you and your family can do the same. Does a competition like this motivate you? Share your stories with me. I would love to hear them.
