They watch everything we do.

Can you guess what I often do?

This moment happened this morning organically. I just happened to have my camera out taking photos of sis crawling and was able to capture it. He got done in front of Sawyer and said “say cheese.” Ah melt my heart.

I am so glad I am doing Project 52 this year. It is really keeping me accountable for documenting life as it happens. Are you doing a Project 52? You can still start one.

Everyday I look at them and feel so thankful.

I am in awe of them.

They have filled my life with so much joy.

I am honored and so blessed to be

their mama.

Poor babes caught a bad virus

Nothing to make it go away but time

Stuck inside but spirits are still high

Oh, the resiliency of children

It has been a rough few days for my sweet little ones. We believe Sawyer got a virus from the church nursery and then gave it to her brother. She had a mild case, Eli did not. Poor boy. If my body looked like his does I would be in bed crying. Not my little man. He is up playing and laughing. Occasionally he is reminded of his pain and comes to me and says, “hold you mama.” I snuggle him in my arms for a bit and then he is off again being a 21 month old little boy. We are keeping him quarantined because this bug is very contagious. But we are enjoying the quality family time for sure. Just ready to see both my babes healthy again.

We are in the middle of it.

So much to be done. So many boxes to check.

Moving across the world is not an easy task.

But we are trying to take it one day at a time.

Our house is finally on the market. It was stressful trying to get it market ready. And now the real fun begins as we wait for it to sell. We are daily putting our trust in God with this. If we don’t I think we would go crazy!

We would appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this season of transition. It has not been easy, but we know it’s just a season.

AND I am behind on my Project 52. I will catch up. Someday!

Kelsey I wish you all the best in the future. Have a blast in college! I know you are going to be an excellent teacher one day!

Zach and Jody are AMAZING wedding photographers based out of Nashville, TN. They are good at what they do and have a passion for teaching others how to do it too. They seriously are an open book which is a rarity in the photography world. I was blessed to be able to attend both their IN-CAMERA and IN-CAMERA Light workshops and I must say it has changed the way I shoot. It’s all about getting great images straight out of the camera so you spend less time editing and more time with your loved ones. That appeals to me and this season of life I am in for sure!

I learned so much in just a few short hours of listening to Zach and Jody speak. I’ve been shooting for over five years now and even so they were blowing my mind with the simple tips and tricks they were sharing. I am beyond pumped to start implementing all I learned during my upcoming photo shoots. I am truly grateful for Zach and Jody and their willingness to share information and to teach others.

I am pumped to share with you some of the images from day one of IN-CAMERA. This workshop is all about natural light and getting awesome shots in camera.  I honestly feel like I was able to do that because of what Zach and Jody taught me.

It’s already begun.

Both pictures above are straight out of the camera, no editing what-so-ever! See the difference. The left image is set on STANDARD picture style and the right image is my CUSTOMIZED  picture style. Let me show you how to customize your camera. Please note this tutorial is for Canon users. If you are a Nikon user leave a comment below and I will do a post on how to do this on a Nikon. I know it can be done on most cameras.

How to Adjust Your Picture Style

1. Hit the “menu” button on the back of your camera. You should see a screen that looks similar to this. (It’s ok if your screen is not exactly like this)

2. Scroll to the second red box by using your front scroll tool close to the shutter release button.  Then scroll down, or use the up and down arrows,  to select “PICTURE STYLE”.

3. You will several PICTURE STYLES that are already preset.  Standard, Portrait, Landscape, Neutral, Faithful, and Monochrome are the preset PICTURE STYLES that are on my camera. You may just have some of these or you may have all of them. You can adjust one of these, but I suggest you scroll down to USER DEF. 1.

4. Select USER Def 1 by hitting the info button on the left-hand side.

5. Now you can customize your settings by toggling the arrow of each option to either the left or the right. This will be a where you will want to experiment. Change a few of the settings, take a test shot, and see if you like the customizations you made. If not, got back in and tweak them a little. You might want more saturation, but less contrast. It’s totally up to you and your style.

6. Now that you have customized the USER DEF 1 setting in PICTURE STYLE  you will always have it saved in your camera until you change it. To switch PICTURE STYLES back and forth between your custom setting and the presets just hit the PICTURE STYLE button on the back of your camera. You should see a display similar to the one below which allows you to scroll through all the PICTURE STYLES and select your favorite. Notice the ones that say 1, 2, and 3 are the USER DEFAULT options that you will have to customize in order to use.

And that’s it! You have now customized your PICTURE STYLE settings which should give you more control over your images. Please note that if you are shooting in RAW you will still see the customizations you made when viewing your pictures in the camera, just like when shooting in JPEG. But you will not see them during post processing.
