Are you a maven? A maven is a someone who is self-proclaimed expert. Someone who researches, and digs for information until they feel they have mastered it. Then the share. That’s my favorite part about this word. Mavens love to pass on knowledge to other people. They love to give away the information they have.
I have to confess that I do identify with this noun on many levels. I love to learn. I love to research topics that I am passionate about and educate myself as much as I can until I have mastered that given topic. I wouldn’t say that I ever reach the expert level. But I do as much as I can to feel like I have a strong foundation and understanding. I am not naturally brainy. Some people are just gifted with smarts. I have to work for mine. I have to read and re-read and ask questions and analyze in order to learn something and to learn it well. But I love doing it. I love learning and then passing on that knowledge. Some of the topics I have done this for in the past have been infertility, exercise, diet, photography… My current fascination is business! I love all aspects of business and can’t seem to get enough information about marketing, branding, organizing, and even logistical topics such as taxes. If I am going to do something I want to do it well and right. So this is what I do. I read. And read. And read again. It’s just how I learn. Here are some of the books that I am reading currently. Never thought I would be so interested in such things. It’s funny where life takes you!
